The Julian Group meets on the third Monday of every month at 2.30pm usually in the Lady Chapel. Julian Groups are contemplative prayer groups, the first of which were set up in 1973, following a letter in the Church press. Today there are over 400 such groups in the UK. They are named after the 14th century contemplative woman, Julian of Norwich.
The St. Michael’s group has people from different churches, clergy and lay, and at each meeting, a member of the group gives a brief Christian reading and leads into 30 minutes of silent contemplative prayer, ending with a closing prayer and a short time of talking. Anyone is welcome to join the group and learn by doing.
