Bells

The Church has a peal of ten bells, the largest weighing 850kg with a mouth diameter of 1.3m.  The oldest bell dates back to 1713.  The bells are rung as a call to worship on Sundays and for special occasions such as weddings.

We are running an appeal for a major restoration of the bells - see further below.

Bells Appeal

Here's a quick and easy way to help us with our appeal

£1,000 could make a big difference to the St Michael’s Bishop’s Stortford Bell Restoration Appeal. That’s why we’d be really grateful if you could nominate us in Ecclesiastical’s 12 days of giving.  Your nomination could be the one that wins us £1,000.

Open to eligible charities in the UK, Republic of Ireland, Channel Islands and Isle of Man, Ecclesiastical will be donating a total of £120,000 to 120 charities over 12 days in December and we’d love to be one of them.  £1,000 will bring us closer to our target of £280,000 to refurbish the historic bells at St Michael's Church, Bishop's Stortford, to help safeguard a long tradition of church bells ringing out to call worshippers to church for future generations.

It’s quick and easy to nominate us:
Visit www.movementforgood.com/12days
Click ‘nominate now’
Enter the registered charity number for The Parochial Church Council of the Ecclesiastical Parish of Bishop's Stortford (St Michael's), 1130646, into the search box.

Nominations are open now, closing at midnight the day before each draw.  Charities not drawn will be
carried over to the next draw, and draws will take place each weekday from 7 December to 22 December 2020.  The more nominations we get, the greater our chance of winning, so please spread the word by forwarding this email to your friends and family.  Thank you in advance for your time and support

Tribute to Kenneth Westwood
